An interesting take on John McCharacter from some of the people who know (or knew) him best.
If this isn't cause for some cognitive dissonance, I don't know what is. The war hero leader with the impeccable character can't possibly be a fake, an ingrate and a philanderer, can he???

The Maverick
As Progressive Media USA points out, it seems that when John McCain can be bothered to show up and vote in the Senate, he votes with Bush 100% of the time.
I guess those were unannounced stops on the Straight Talk Express.

You're missing something
If you read this -
"The disclosure that $1.8 billion in Iraqi assets was mishandled comes on top of an earlier finding by an independent federal oversight agency, the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, that United States occupation authorities early in the conflict could not account for the disbursement of $8.8 billion in Iraqi oil money and seized assets."
- and still fall for the "tax and spend" Democrats line, you're being disingenuous at best.
Let me get this straight: It's OK to borrow it, it's OK to steal it, it's OK to lose it, it's OK to waste it, it's OK to mismanage it, it's OK to get nothing for it, it's even OK to pay people who were once our enemies, it's probably OK to burn it for chrissakes - just as long as you don't raise taxes. Because that's what Democrats do.
Seems like a winner to me. "Do what you want with it because it's not MY money."
Actually, with many Americans that probably is a winner.
P.S. Obama is proposing a middle-class tax cut. FYI.

Johnny done a bad, bad thing
The Senate voted on a new G.I. Bill today.
Guess who didn't vote? There are actually 3 answers.
Ted Kennedy - needs no explanation.
Tom Coburn - not sure of the reason, unless he was crying in a Supreme Court confirmation hearing and lost track of time.
JOHN S. MCCAIN - the American War Hero, Mr. Honor, the Veteran and Presidential Candidate for the Republican Party.
John McCain. Mr Principles. Instead of voting against a new G.I. Bill - which would have been political suicide - he decided not to vote at all. Which may also have been political suicide.
What happened to supporting the troops John? Does that only apply to the officers and the ones lucky enough to stick around for twenty years?

More Controversy Surrounding Reverend Affiliated with Presidential Nominee
Not Obama. McCain. Rev. John Hagee, whose endorsement McCain said he is glad to have, apparently thinks that "Hitler was fulfilling God's will" in his attempt to exterminate European Jewry.
That would seem to me to be a bit off-message.

She's losing her bearings
Sad that I have to come back to Hillary when all I want to do is help expose Flip-Flop McCain as a fraud - but I had to post this from Al Giordano at The Field. Seems that Hillary truly wants to be Veep. Seems that Barack said "Fat chance." Seems that Hillary reacted to this by comparing the primary vote in Florida to the recent election in Zimbabwe - essentially inferring that this election is being stolen from her. Well, other than the fact that it's a 'primary' and not an 'election,' and that all that primaries do is elect delegates to conventions and NOT representatives to governing bodies, and that Hillary's people were at the forefront of the disenfranchisement in the first place, and that Mugabe is a dictator desperately holding on to power while Florida is one of 50 states that currently employs democratically-elected officials who - theoretically anyway - swear to uphold the rule of law...
Other than that, Florida IS like Zimbabwe.
I suspected that she was using Florida/Michigan rhetoric as a bargaining chip to get the #2 spot...I never would have thought that she was doing it AFTER being rebuffed once already. What I can't decide is if she now just wants to be as petulant as possible or if she thinks that this kind of talk is more likely to get her what she wants, as opposed to less.
Either way, I'm reminded of why I voted for Obama and not Hillary Clinton. The difference is obvious to any of us who are honest enough to admit it. A vote for Obama is a vote for change. A vote for Hillary is a vote for someone who thinks that the results of 50+ legitimate primaries and caucuses are mere details if they don't ultimately give her something to which she felt entitled.
No Dream Ticket. Not this time. Not ever.
Bye Hillary.

About Me
- PJM
- is a writer/blogger/whatever based in the Washington, D.C. area who once thought he was Right about everything (and not just in the political sense of the word). Life experiences, a lot of travel, some excellent teachers and mentors, and a great deal of thought and personal reflection have, however, shown him that he was very, very Wrong.
